This collection shows all optic plates, also called optics ready plates, from the point of view of the red dot. Use it if you already own a red dot and want to know which plates take it. Every optic plate has two sides: the bottom fits the optic cut of your pistol, the top fits the footprint of your red dot.
What a footprint is
The footprint is the screw pattern and base shape of a red dot. It decides which plate the red dot fits. Two red dots with the same footprint fit the same plate, even if they come from different makers. The red dot maker names the footprint in the specifications.
Footprints in our range
-
Trijicon RMR: the most widely used footprint on full-size pistols. Many other red dots copy it, for example several Holosun and Vector Optics models.
-
Shield RMSc: a small footprint for compact and slim pistols. It comes from Shield Sights.
-
Holosun K-series: used by the Holosun 407K, 507K and similar compact models.
-
Leupold DPP: the footprint of the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro.
-
Docter: also known as the Vortex Venom or Noblex footprint.
-
C-More RTS: the footprint of the C-More RTS models.
-
Aimpoint Acro: the footprint of the enclosed Aimpoint Acro.
-
Holosun 509T and Holosun EPS: footprints of these Holosun enclosed red dots.
-
Vortex Razor, Meopta Meored and Sig Romeo1: available on selected plates.
How many plates per footprint
The Trijicon RMR footprint has the most plates in our range, followed by Shield RMSc. Docter, Leupold DPP, C-More RTS and Holosun K-series follow. Aimpoint Acro, Toni System and Holosun 509T have fewer plates. Vortex Razor, Meopta Meored, Sig Romeo1, Holosun EPS and Aimpoint A-CUT exist only for a few pistols. No red dot yet? The RMR and RMSc footprints give you the most plates to choose from.
How to read a plate title
A plate title has three parts. The first part names the pistol, for example "CZ P-10 Optics Ready plate". The second part names the footprint, for example "Trijicon RMR footprint". A plate for several footprints shows a type letter and a list in brackets. An example is "type A [RMSc, DPP, Docter footprint]". The letters differ between makers, so always read the list.
Plate makers
-
Factory plates: CZ, Beretta, Walther and Phoenix make plates for their own pistols.
-
2BME (Poland): aluminium plates, for example for the Glock MOS gen.6 and the Sig P320.
-
Toni System (Italy) and Outer Impact (USA): aluminium plates, often for several footprints with a type letter.
-
KMR and Evo Arms (Czech Republic), Eemann Tech (Europe) and Impact Machine (USA): steel plates.
-
EGW (USA), Holosun, Shield Sights and Vector Optics: plates for selected pistols.
Steel or aluminium
The material is given in the product description. Steel plates are heavier and robust. Aluminium plates are lighter. Both are machined to the shape of the optic cut.
Plates with a rear sight
Some plates have a rear sight on the plate itself. You can aim with iron sights even with the red dot mounted. Impact Machine makes them for the CZ Shadow 2, the Dan Wesson DWX and the Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy. 2BME makes one for the Sig P320. The title says "with rear sight" or "with integrated rear sight".
Red dots that need no plate
This collection also lists red dots made for one optic cut. Examples are the Holosun SCS for the Glock MOS, CZ P-10, Walther PDP 2.0 and HK VP9. Another is the Vector Optics Frenzy for the Glock MOS and CZ Shadow 2 Optics Ready. They sit in the optic cut without a plate.
Step by step
- Find the footprint of your red dot.
- Find the exact model and variant of your pistol.
- Choose a plate whose title names both.
No plate for your combination?
If no plate for your pistol takes your footprint, a footprint adapter may help. It converts one footprint to another, for example from Trijicon RMR to Holosun K-series. See Footprint adapters. Some red dots also fit the optic cut directly, without a plate. See Red dots with direct mounting footprint.
For plates sorted by pistol brand, see Optics ready plates.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find the footprint of my red dot?
The red dot maker gives it in the specifications. In our shop, every red dot description names it right at the start.
Is the Docter footprint the same as the Vortex Venom footprint?
Yes. It is also called the Noblex footprint.
Which footprint should I choose if I do not have a red dot yet?
Look at which plates exist for your pistol, then choose a red dot with one of those footprints. Trijicon RMR and Shield RMSc have the most plates.
