Holosun new red dots overview: 407Comp, 407C X3 and 507C X3

Holosun released 3 new red dots. And by the time of writing, we have all of them in stock. Which are the new Holosun red dots? 

• Holosun 407Comp
• Holosun 407C X3
• Holosun 507C X3

In this article I will briefly go through the differences between them, and for whom they may be a good choice. 

Holosun 407Comp

407Comp is the smaller variant of very popular 507Comp red dot. It has large window, ideal for competition shooting. 

From the first sight you will find this red dot very similar to the larger 507Comp. But it is only in housing appearance, in fact there are few important differences:

• Holosun 407Comp is smaller (smaller in all aspects: width, height and length)
• 407Comp only has 6 MOA dot while the 507Comp uses unique multi reticle system

The 407Comp uses the Trijicon RMR footprint - same as the 507Comp.

Holosun 407C X3

The 407C X3 uses the same reticle as the X2 variant - 2 MOA dot. Ad it is available in red color as well as in green color.

Holosun 407C X3 is the third generation of the 407C red dot. Compared to the X2 variant, the 407C X3 has new housing, which in my opinion is a major step forward. And it also has slightly larger window size (by 1 mm).

Other than that, the Holosun 407C X3 vs 407C X2 are not that much different.

Holosun 507C X3

In the previous generation, Holosun made the 507C as a multi-reticle variant of the 407C red dot (407C only features simple 2 MOA dot). The same idea remains in the X3 generation. In another words, if you compare 407C X3 vs 507C X3, you wil only find the reticle system different. 

The 507C uses multi reticle system and allows you to choose between 2 MOA dot, 32 MOA circle and combination of both. 

When compared to the 507C X2, the 507C X3 variant is different only in housing style (which is great upgrade actually) and slightly larger window (1 mm larger).
